Vehicle Requirements
Compatible Roof Types
Factory Roof Rails
Most modern SUVs and crossovers come with factory-installed roof rails. These are perfect for mounting roof tents with the addition of crossbars.
Best For: Toyota 4Runner, Subaru Outback, Jeep Grand Cherokee
Aftermarket Crossbars
Universal crossbar systems like Thule or Yakima can be installed on most vehicles. Choose crossbars rated for at least 165 lbs.
Best For: Sedans, wagons, vehicles without factory rails
Truck Bed Rails
Pickup trucks require specialized mounting systems that attach to the bed rails or use a bed rack system for roof tent installation.
Best For: Ford F-150, Toyota Tacoma, Chevrolet Colorado
Full Roof Rack Systems
Heavy-duty roof rack systems provide maximum stability and load capacity. Ideal for frequent off-road adventurers.
Best For: Jeep Wrangler, Land Rover Defender, off-road vehicles
Installation Steps
Prepare Your Vehicle
Clean the roof area thoroughly. Ensure crossbars are properly installed and tightened according to manufacturer specifications.
Tip: Use a torque wrench to ensure crossbars are tightened to proper specifications (typically 50-75 lb-ft).
Position the Tent
With 2-3 people, carefully lift the tent onto the roof. Position it centered over the crossbars. The tent should be balanced front to back.
Safety: Never attempt installation alone. Roof tents weigh 100-150 lbs and require multiple people.
Attach Mounting Hardware
Use the included mounting brackets to secure the tent to your crossbars. Hand-tighten all bolts first, then tighten in a cross pattern.
Important: Follow torque specifications in the installation manual. Over-tightening can damage the tent base.
Test and Adjust
Open and close the tent several times to ensure smooth operation. Check all bolts are tight and the tent is level.
Final Check: Re-torque all mounting bolts after the first 50 miles of driving.

Safety Tips
Never Install Alone
Roof tents are heavy (100-150 lbs). Always have 2-3 people during installation to prevent injury or damage.
Check Weight Capacity
Verify your vehicle's dynamic roof load capacity before installation. Exceeding this limit can cause structural damage.
Regular Inspections
Check all mounting bolts before every trip. Re-torque bolts after first 50 miles and every 1,000 miles thereafter.
Height Awareness
Be mindful of increased vehicle height. Check clearance before entering garages, parking structures, and drive-throughs.
Maintenance & Care
